The Nemours Children’s Hospital is a new $400 million, 95-bed facility that is slated to open in 2012. The 620,000 square-foot children’s hospital is part of a 60-acre pediatric health campus featuring an integrated pediatric health care system. This system will focus on the needs of medically complex children through coordinated patient-centered medical services, biomedical research, medical and allied health training, educational programs as well as pediatric prevention services and child advocacy programs.
BCH is one of three (3) mechanical contractors employed on the project due to the size of the project and the aggressive construction schedule. BCH played a lead role in the IPD, Integrated Project Delivery, of the project. Coordinating the mechanical scope in 3-D BIM with all of the other trade contractors, to have a totally coordinated above ceiling scope before any pipe or sheet metal was installed.
