Safety Program

BCH is serious about safety. To that end, we have dedicated a considerable amount of time and money to employee safety training.

MANAGEMENT COMMITMENT
BCH employs a full-time Safety Manager who manages our general safety training program and implements job and project specific programs. The Safety Manager also conducts weekly and monthly safety meetings.

SAFETY PROGRAM
Each new employee attends a full day of safety orientation. This is followed by in-house safety training programs: a ten hour OSHA curriculum; fork lift and foreman training; and aerial work platforms.

After orientation, employees are placed into a mentoring program and paired with a seasoned veteran who reinforces proper safety procedure with hands-on, practical experience. Employees receive several site visits from our Safety Manager within the first ninety days of employment.

PROJECT SPECIFIC PROGRAMS
A specific program is created for each individual project, including MSDS sheets. Our Safety Manager visits the jobsite and the closest emergency medical facility to the jobsite to ascertain the best practice to be followed in the event that an accident occurs.

PROJECT PREFABRICATION
The prefabrication work that we are able to accomplish in our sheet metal shop allows us to lower the risk of injury on the jobsite.  We have full sheet metal assembly, piping and plumbing prefabrication capabilities.

DRUG-FREE WORKPLACE
BCH has been a drug-free workplace for nearly twenty years, long before insurance discounts became a motivating factor.  A safe, healthy workplace is critical to excellent job performance. Therefore, we perform pre-employment, post-accident, and random drug testing.

SAFETY AWARDS PROGRAM
Our Safety Awards Program is indicative of our commitment to an injury free environment. This program originated in January of 2008 and has been a tremendous success. The program guarantees that employees will receive monetary rewards for safety conscious behavior. While it is true that these rewards are expensive, we look upon them as an investment in our employees health and well-being.
